| Kelley Frederickson | A tribute to our friendToday is a sad day for Team Fastrax, the skydiving community and the United States. Our teammate and dear friend Kelley Frederickson died in her sleep of unknown causes May 20th. Fastrax Blue was training for the World Meet in Perris when Kelley was suddenly taken from us. Kelley was a tenacious, world-class competitor and teammate; she put team first in every thing she did. She was an American Patriot who served our Nation with distiction and honor. For those of you who did not not know Kelley, here is a brief bio: Age: 34 Height and Weight: 64" 135lbs Birthplace: Omaha, NE Family/Marital Status: Single City of Residence: Las Vegas Occupation: F-22 System Administrator Hobbies: Jumping, working out, flying, reading history or current events, watching football or LOST Favorite Book: Umberto Eco, Name of the Rose Favorite Music: All kinds: India Arie, Dave Mathews, Damien Rice, Zero 7, Jack Johnson Favorite Quote: If you can dream it, you can do it Favorite Place: The Sky Home DZ: Eloy, AZ Position on the team: Point Year of first freefall: 1997 Total Jumps: 2500+ Total Cutaways: 1 USPA License #: D-21312 Other Teams you have been on: Chikara, USA Thunder Championships and Records: 2005 TSL 4 way Gold Medal What does it mean to be a member of Team Fastrax? Eventually Gold in Open 4 way. Personally would like to help grow a US Naval Academy team to compete since it the only service academy without one. Life Philosophy: Discipline is the bridge between dreams and accomplishment. Most people don't know this about me: I was a cheerleader at the Naval Academy. Where would you like to see the sport go? Grow into larger more professional entities to help expand the sport and touch more people with the opportunity to participate in such an incredible past-time. Become a major player in Aviation and aviation related events. What do you like most about the sport? Learning in such an intense/intimate environment- about yourself about being a part of a team. What do you like least about the sport? Losing friends in accidents that could be prevented. What is the toughest thing to do in skydiving: Be a GOOD teammate. Out of all skydives, is there one jump you would like to do all over again? Any competition dive. What is your most significant life achievement? USNA graduate, F-14 combat veteran. What drives your competitive spirit? Challenges! Explain "who you are" in five words or less: Loyal, Dedicated, Playful, Quick-Witted, Passionate. What quirks do you possess? Scatterbrained on the "small stuff", intensely focused on the "big stuff". Where would you like to be 10 years from now? Surrounded by good friends, Fastrax teammates and family. Are you just starting out with RW and want to learn more? Are you an experienced FS skydiver and want to brush up on your skills? Then this two-day camp is for you! It will give you a chance to practice everything from mental preparation to exits to safe diving to proper tracking. After the individual groups have demonstrated the necessary skills, we will combine the groups and do a bigger formation to wrap up the camp. When you finish the camp, you should be qualified to skydive competently on 20-ways and slightly larger. The goal is to set a DZ Record 30 way at the end of the camp. Another happy Start Skydiving customer! |
| National Skydiving League | Mid-East Skydiving League News Greetings Four-Way Junkies, It's only a few days before our inaugural meet in the Mid-East Skydive League. It's coming up fast, and I hope everyone is as pumped about it as I am! We have had some groups get together, and do some minor training at Start on those days we have had good weather.
For those of you who intend on coming out to the meet, and do not yet have a full team, now is the time to talk to others of like mind. To help facilitate that, individuals or partial teams, please forward to me your intended division and your current status as soon as possible. I'll return an e-mail to all respondents no later than Monday May 19th with the list of names gathered. People within each division can then contact each other ahead of the meet to form your team. Don't forget to ask around for available video people. We have some video people available. But without any feedback so far, it's difficult to know if we'll have enough for everyone.
Those who DO have a full team ready to go, please forward your members names/team name and division.
Details about meet day:
Competitors briefing will be held at 7:30 SHARP, regardless of weather. We want an early start so that everyone gets their full 6 rounds in. If you party, do so lightly on Friday. Videographers must also be in attendance.
There is a registration fee of $100 per team, prior to manifesting for round 1. This is independent of the jump fees.
The draws for each division will be available on the NSL web site Friday evening, and we will have hardcopies available to the teams Saturday morning.
Plan to stay the weekend as there will be other activities at the DZ after the meet is complete. Also, if the weather is non co-operative on Saturday, then we intend to either start or continue on Sunday, whichever is necessary.
MESL Schedule Meet 1 - May 24 Meet 2 - Jun 21 Meet 3 - July 19 Meet 4 - Aug 16 NSL Playoffs - Sept 20 - 21 Rain dates are the Sundays. If good weather prevails and the meets complete in one day, we'll have organized big(ger) ways on the Sundays. If anyone has an interest in doing some 4-way this summer, feel free to contact me directly at
