| | What's Up This Week | Week ending 26 January 2008 We are busy preparing for the season to begin full time on weekends in March. Lots of paperwork, marketing plans, student guides and procedural handbooks are be developed for what is going to be an incredible second year at Start Skydiving. The second turbine aircraft will be here the end of April, a 208 Grand Caravan. Occassionally we will have a Porter here while the USA National Teams are training in addition to our other aircraft, so there will be no shortage of lift capacity. Keep in mind that if the weather is warm enough we will be jumping on weekends. Happy Birthday to Katie G. and to any others that celebrate it in the month of January. |
| Safety First! | | Things you need to know It might be time to get your reserve repacked and inspected by our Master Rigger, Greg. He is available anytime so call the DZ to schedule dropping your rig off. While your at home dreaming of warmer weather and Start Skydiving, you can inspect your gear, get your Neptune batteries (Duracel only), relace lenses and goggles and wash those smelly jumpsuits. We understand that it has been a while since some of you have jumped, so remember to go over your emergency procedures. |
| | DZ Happenings | | Here is the scoop! Several Ohio skydivers took advantage of the long holiday weekend to visit the wind tunnel at SkyVenture New Hampshire. The 15 participants (ranging from 0 to 1000+ jumps) flew for a total of eight and a half hours over two days. This group benefited from the exceptional coaching provided by Kip Lohmiller and Ben Liston from Mass Defiance. Unfortunately Fastrax was at winter camp training and could not attend this camp. Whether they were preparing for the AFF program or an AFF Instructor Course or just learning to fly, everyone showed incredible improvement and had a great time. Although the travelers encountered a slight problem when the return flight was cancelled and everyone was forced to hang out in Portsmouth for an additional twelve hours. This group made the best of it by entertaining themselves with a trip to the theater and touring the nearby Red Hook Brewery, so the delay did not turn out that bad after all! Remember to keep checking the DZ calendar for events and rating courses. Linda Lohmiller and some other jumpers are planning trips to Florida in February, if you are interested contact Bob or Linda at
