| FEATURED ARTICLE | | Team Fastrax and Start Skydiving Offer Wounded Veterans Tandem Skydive Opportunity "Blue Skies for the Good Guys and Gals" Honors our Nation's Heroes Team Fastrax Professional Skydiving Team and Start Skydiving are proud to announce their new program, "Blue Skies for the Good Guys and Gals," to say THANK YOU to the men and women who serve our country. The program will provide a tandem parachute opportunity for those Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guard (active duty, reserve or guard) who have been wounded in combat and received a Purple Heart. Team Fastrax has partnered with the Wounded Warrior Foundation and The Thank You Foundation to reach out to Veterans around the country. "These are our nation's finest and brightest and we have an obligation to do whatever we can to lift their spirits and show them how much we care, said John Hart, founder of Team Fastrax and owner of Start Skydiving. "As a Gulf War veteran and 20 year Army service member, I am honored to sponsor an event that will have a special impact on these men and women." The program will kick off at Start Skydiving in Lebanon, Ohio on Memorial Day Weekend as part of the Thank You Foundation Boogie. Selection.com, the nation's premier background screening service, is spearheading the corporate charge to raise the funds to make these skydives happen. | | Safety First! | Things you need to know . A "C" License is earned, not issued, at Start Skydiving! In keeping with the alphabet, the third level of skydiving licensure is, you guessed it, a C license. What's the benefit of holding a C? Well, in addition to being able to exercise all privileges of a B license holder, earning your C license makes you eligible for to earn a USPA AFF or IAD Instructor rating. It also allows the holder to ride as a passenger on USPA Tandem Instructor training and rating renewal jumps, and to participate in certain demonstration jumps. In order to earn your B license, you must have: 1) Met all current requirements for or hold a USPA B license. 2) Completed 200 jumps, including accumulating at least 60 minutes of controlled freefall time. 3) Landed within two meters of target center on 25 jumps. 4) Completed the aerial performance requirements of either: a) during freefall, perform in sequence within 18 seconds: a backloop, front loop, left 360-degree turn, right 360- degree turn, right barrel roll and left barrel roll; OR b) completed at least two points on an 8-way or larger random skydive. 5) Passed the USPA written C license exam conducted by a current USPA I, I/E, S&TA, or USPA Board member. We offer the finest coaching in the World at Start Skydiving to assist you in attaining your C license. |

| | DZ Happenings | | Here is the scoop! It is time to put your big way plans together and let's set some DZ and Ohio records! Check out the Start Skydiving Events Calendar and mark your schedules accordingly. What an awesome weekend to kick off the start summer. We reconnected with friends that we have not seen in years, seven oldtimers came out of the woodwork and started jumping for the first time in 3-7 years. It is great to have you back in the air. Several people reached jump number milestones this weekend: Don Abney - 100 John "Rudder" Harth - 200 Tristan Donley - 300 Scott Snell - 600 Misty Harmon - 800 Marcus Harris- 2,000 Other notable occurrences and achievements: Scot H attained his B license and Matt Nobles went on solo status. Bud had his first reserve ride - after a total malfunction - without incident. Clint took a spry 91 year-old woman up for a birthday tandem Sunday. He said the experience is something he will always remember; we're sure she will, too! Throughout the holiday weekend, we made more than 800 skydives from the two caravans and Enstrom helicopter. The helicopter is available all summer at Start Skydiving; schedule with manifest if you are interested in jumping from it. The cost is $45 to 4000 feet. And always remember, If you're in the market for new gear, make sure you check out our sponsors on the left side of this newsletter. All the manufacturers we support are top-of-the-line. Ask manifest if you are in need of something; Kip or John will sit down with you and explain the benefits of having the right equipment.
